SAAF C-130 Crash 9th Jan at Goma, DRC

All evacuated safely after engine fire on landing. Reported it was SAAFs only currently airworthy C-130.

I've been into Goma in a Cessna 310, one of those twins with pointy tip tanks. It was hard case as the local village boys seem to have a competition going.

The first boy to lay a hand on the aircraft during the landing is the winner. A little disconcerting when you see about 10 kids lined up on the side of the strip. They must judge it to be about the 30Kt point and start their run-up from there.

Many of the guys were carrying firearms or machetes, I guess we should have been thankful the younger ones were in athlete mode.
