Made my 2 yearly visit to Briggs aerospace yesterday and was able to get a really good look at the wing structure. After interpreting old drawings, it is useful to see how the end product is all put together.

Assembly of the starboard wing has begun. Second time around it is no easier. Have made a new sub rib at sta#27 between webs 2 and 3. Both sides were made slightly too big. Port side was modified, but figured it was easier just to make a new one this time. Web 2 and 3 are not yet attached to the rib at Sta #205.

Starboard wing taking shape. A lot of fitting together, pulling apart, adjusting and putting together again to get it to this stage. Next step is to make web 4 that fits behind the whell well.

Looking forward to the trial fit of the fuse on top of the wings, this is/has been so much fun to follow!

Now the silly season is over, it's time to get back to work. Doing a bit of a tidy up and found a container of parts I had made a while back. Most of these are the second set for the starboard wing. Working through the drawings, there are around 25 more sets of sub ribs to make, plus all the other access covers etc..... Still working on the countersunk rivet issue. Reached out to several manufacturers that claim to be able to make small fasteners, with little luck so far.

The oxygen tanks took a bit to get painted. A bit of pitting and orange peel. I'm working with a manufacturer to get a bulk run (50,000) of countersunk 1mm rivets made. Hopefully, skinning of the wing can resume in a few weeks.

Wing to fuselage attach fittings....my guess anyway

Hmmm... I will need to make this harder. If I have interpreted the drawings correctly, these fittings attach to the back of Web #1 and get inserted into the hollowed-out section of the lower engine mounts, held in place with a through bolt.

They are very similar to those fitted to the Mustang....of which I have a full set in my garage. For those not associated with aircraft rebuilds it would have been difficult
