What a sad day, the world has lost two legends. Motor racing great Sir Stirling Moss passed away aged 90 following a long illness.
And comedy great Tim Brooke-Taylor, famous as one of The Goodies, and also Me And My Girl, and a team member in the long running radio and hugely funny show I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue (1972-present day!), has died after contracting Covid 19. A real downer.
RIP gents.

The word 'legend' is bandied about all too often these days but both of these gents were the real deal. RIP to two British icons, a real loss

RIP both. I remember seeing Sir Stirling Moss driving at one of the Wings and Wheels airshows at Whenuapai in the '90s.

Yes sad day indeed, 2 great people gone! I did one of my 'google trawls' and looking at Stirling Moss a very interesting (well to me anyway!) side-story opened up. His obituary mentions he grew-up in 'Long White Cloud' in Berkshire... realised there has to be a kiwi connection to that! There certainly is... it was visited by some very famous people: Edwin Elgar (composer); Siegfried Sassoon (WW1 soldier & poet)... and then there's the story of how it became known as 'Long White Cloud'... all down to one Leslie George Wylde - NZEF WW1, service number 6/748. Hopefully this link will work: books.google.co.nz/books?id=LO9KDzIYSZoC&pg=PA444&dq=leslie+wylde&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwja-5LsmeXoAhUab30KHVNjCuAQ6AEIJzAA#v=onepage&q=leslie%20wylde&f=falseThe bit I found interesting starts on page 138... remember it's nothing to do with Stirling Moss, it's about how the house he grew-up in got named & the rather interesting connection to a NZer.
