The first and only vehicle that prototypically featured at Cascade River airstrip a Fergusson tractor. In model form, a 1:43.5 scale Fergusson tractor diecast lightly weathered and first aircraft, an unfinished 1:48th Hughes 500. The tractor is illustrated at Cascade River fitted with a pile driver to assist with construction of the lower whitebait stands. I assume is could also tow a mower to cut the grass on the runway although this may not have been the case as the 1960 fatal Auster crash on the strip was in part "due to the sluggish acceleration of the Auster on the take off run owing to the overgrown condition of the grass airstrip".
