Strange but wonderful! Reminds me somewhat of those other-worldly amusement arcades where they used to have a flying bicycle, powered by you (the rider) with conventional pedals and prop behind. There was a huge panoramic view ahead, and you had to pedal quite hard to keep airborne, you could climb and descend, and bank too. Sounds a bit silly, but it was really quite neat, a bit like modern virtual reality, but more fun I reckon, and don't think there was too much added noise. Am guessing these no longer in use anywhere? Must have been 20 of more years ago, maybe 30? Anybody remember them? David D

Hasten to add Dave, that the "flying bikes" never left the ground, the "motion" experienced was all "virtual", induced by the big screen, just like flight simulators with big screens. We had one in Christchurch, must have been others in other largish cities, there were lots of other racing cars to "drive", etc., they didn't move either, bit that didn't matter, you just felt you were.
