You should have a go at colourising one.

Here is an interesting one. Maybe a FAC harvard? but something I have not noticed on RNZAF Harvards, post war at least, is nose art and kill markings. Under the window behind the girl are at lease 3 vehicles, 2 bombs and 2 men, on the cowlings is "OLDE XTERMINATOR" The RNZAF caption says "Members of the Airmen's Club entertain children from the Gonville Sanitorium, Whanganui, at RNZAF Station Ohakea. Unknown man showing some girls the cockpit of a Harvard." Dated 4/12/1963 original HERE Edit, NZ1017? was a FAC Harvard and can see the top of the 7 between the man and the girl OhG5081-63 by Mit Brereton, on Flickr

Hooks went on to become the 5 Sqn Maintenance W/O.

Can't help with names but one of those guns is NOT a rifle! In fact I wouldn't call the Styer a "rifle" either!

Back row right WGCDR Bob Henderson CO40, back row centre holding GPMG SGTALM J Buchler, front row left FGOFF K McEvoy (a current AIRCDRE I believe), and front right FGOFF M Morgan.

I think you mean Steyr, a styer would be some sort of eye irritant. The non rifle is a 5.56mm Minimi.

The RNZAF Herc's have had a few schemes in their time, did a brief search and found three, white with silver trim, grey/green camo and the current all grey, is there more?

That is basically it. The early scheme had a change of roundel from the fern to the kiwi in 1970 though.

I have never paid too much attention to those early schemes as it was long before my time, and they mostly come in black and white, but it looks like they arrived here in white and grey, or is that silver? Line up of three brand new No. 40 Squadron Hercules on the tarmac at RNZAF Station Whenuapai. NZ7003 nearest camera. (from 1965) Photo from HEREBut this one from 1965 looks silver rather than grey? So hard to tell in monochrome photos Photo from HEREThis looks definitely grey from 1979 Princess Anne speaking with the Prime Minister Robert Muldoon and his wife in front of No. 40 Squadron Hercules NZ7001 just prior to her departure from New Zealand. Whenuapai, RNZAF Base Auckland. Photo from HEREThese two look to be silver in 1978 though Photo from HEREPhoto from HERESo I am royally confused now. Was it grey or silver, or both?
