When Boeing were doing the Dreamliner endurance tests, they spent a long spell in the air. They did this to beat the 18 hour boredom

The last flight for QF7474 from LAX to the Mojave has been slipped back from what was going to be 9.30AM Friday morning Los Angeles local time to 11.00AM Friday morning Los Angeles local time to allow for some ceremonies at the QANTAS Los Angeles hangar. Interesting to see that between the final adventure/joy flight last Friday and the flight out of Sydney on Wednesday that they had stripped a stack of the seating out of the aircraft, so she was certainly weighing in on the light side for the flight to LAX. The new timing for the final flight from LAX to Mojave would make it 4.00AM Australian Eastern Standard Time on Saturday morning 25 July, which puts it into the "I may get up that early to watch it on flight following" category. If similar to the arrival, there may be local US news crews doing a live internet feed from LAX. The Last QANTAS 747 Group on FB is a good place to find more if you are interested, they have a couple of members who are at LAX keeping an eye on proceedings locally and been keeping people updated with what is happening there. I got a few photos of her during her final flight over Canberra last Friday.
