It's so sad that the warbird world lost Volker Schülke, the owner of the famous Hangar 10 collection in Germany, killed in the crash of his Pilatus P2 yesterday.  And more sad news today when the Norwegian Historic Flight's Sea Fury crashed into trees after an engine failure and attempted forced landing. Thankfully the two onboard escaped with minor injuries but the poor Sea Fury (which used to be owned by The Fighter Collection) is fair rooted. |

That is sad news. At least the Seafury accident wasnt fatal.

I had seen a couple of Facebook posts about the Pilatus but hadn't registered who the pilot was. What awful news. the poor Sea Fury (which used to be owned by The Fighter Collection) is fair rooted. I'm sure most people thought the same after its accident thirty years ago. We could yet see her resurrected a third time! |

Found some footage of her and post crash, credit to the design that
the crew were okay considering the damage in the cockpit area!

On a happier note, the French Mk.XIX Spitfire flew from Duxford on its maiden post rebuild flight.Thanks to Peter Hallen for the info

Had it not been that mark of Spitfire when the incident occurred the pilot would have been killed

I've read a lot of Dave Unwin's flight report articles on UK Pilot magazine. I suspect this might form the basis of a future article in some way or another! Glad they're both relatively ok.

Just realised I have some pic's of this Sea Fury, glad all concerned were okay!    Is this the same machine that belly landed due to engine failure some years back when with the Royal Navy Historic flight? |
