Does anyone know if there are any events, memorials, flypasts or other commemorations planned anywhere in New Zealand? We've sometimes had a flypast down here in Dunedin but I haven't been able to find anything advertised.
With this being a notable anniversary I was hoping there might be something happening.

NZ Warbirds plan to do a flypast at Thames airfield on Sunday the 13th during the unveiling of the new Hawker Hurricane that has been erected there to remember Sir Keith Park - a service that I believe has been severely cut down by the Level 2 restrictions with their maximum of 100 people thing.
And on Sunday the 20th of September NZ Warbirds will do the usual annual Battle of Britain Flypast over Auckland city.

www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=3654204564592252&id=150073775005366This weekend, Sunday 13th we will be flying our WW1 replica Bristol Fighter F2B (Brisfit) over to take part in the Sir Keith Park Memorial Airfield flypast and again for their 80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain commemoration. The aircraft is the same type Sir Keith Park flew in WW1 and is painted in his colour style. It will be airborne in time to get to Thames for a 09:30am flypast at the airfield, land and then get airborne again for a second flypast along with Spitfire MH367 over central Thames for around 11:45am. So there will be some slow and faster aircraft heading out of here early and back again just after midday-ish (y) - well the Brisfit might well be a bit longer if there is a headwind home 😆 Come out NZ Warbirds at Ardmore and see our fabulous collection, watch Spitfire MH367 get airborne around 11:15-11:30 ish and return again after its flypast in Thames along with the slight slower ;-) Bristol Fighter behind somewhere :-) We will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am - 3:00pm.

NZ Warbirds did a flypast on the quiet of the Cenotaph and MOTAT. Limited to 10 pilots at the pilots briefing. Spitfire, 5 Harvards, and 3 Tigers with a Super Cub. I'd actually forgotten about it (NZ Warbirds sent an email earlier in the week), but when the wind turned around earlier than forecast I went down to Ardmore. Thanks Errol for capturing the images and to NZ Warbirds for the inspiring flypast. I was forced this year to break with a long-standing tradition of watching from the grounds at MOTAT 2. Last Sunday I was just starting work on some Kestrel parts in my shed at home when I heard the familiar noise of an approaching formation. I got to my front gate in time to hear the tune of another kind of, but very much alive Rolls Royce engine, when the Spitfire flashed directly overhead as it completed it’s sweeping turn over the nearby museum and continued into the sun out over the harbour. It was soon followed by the Harvards, still trailing smoke and then the bunch of biplanes scurrying to catch up. So I didn’t miss the treat after all.
