Probably not everyones cup of tea, but no one can dispute he was a true musical genius who changed rock n roll forever. 2020 will not be remembered as a great year...
EDIT: As a foot note, I got to meet the band and shake Eddies hand when Van Halen played in Auckland in 1998. The fame seemed to just roll off him and in person he was nice and personable just like any ordinary bloke. My esteem for him went up a million percent! And they say you should never meet your heroes...

GOAT! - not only could he play, he always had a smile on his face when he did. A giant version of his iconic Frankenstrat guitar (pictured) was on display at the Smithsonian in recent times.
RIP Legend

Even if you're not a fan of his music, the video for the song Dreams is worth watching on Youtube - it's made up of footage of the Blue Angels.

That is some awesome flying, but it should also be said that is a really nice piece of video editing too.
I wonder what happened to those Skyhawks, were they preserved?

Dave I don't think there was any editing involved there. They were an very talented team and deserve the respect.

Erm there is an absolute shitload of editing in that video, and it's obvious to a trained editor. My comment was taking nothing away from the pilots at all, only praising the video editor. I was not suggesting there is any trick photography involved to create an illusion that the flying is closer than you think - not at all, I am talking about the editing of the video. The flying is very real, and the video is nicely edited.

its ok Dave just thought you were downplaying the Blue Angels talent. I am currently working here in Saudi and they have Aerobatic team Known as the Saudi Falcons or Saudi Hawks as they fly Hawk jets and its interesting to be a part of. We have a lot of ex Brit, Aussie and Kiwi instructor pilots over here and in fact the last leader of the Saudi Hawks was an en ex

Even if you're not a fan of his music, the video for the song Dreams is worth watching on Youtube - it's made up of footage of the Blue Angels. Classic 80s Sammy Hagar era Van Halen. It's interesting to note that the synth/keyboard heavy version of VH was down to Eddie himself and according to legend, when he expressed a desire to explore this avenue, it was David Lee Roth who was opposed to it. Lee Roth hated the single Jump from the album 1984, which became their only No.1 in the USA and is arguably their best remembered track. Truly ground breaking, Eddie's guitar work and the band's look and sound had massive influence and spawned a thousand copycats, from Motley Crue, Poison, Guns n' Roses etc. Released in 1978, Van Halen's titular debut album is recognised as one of the biggest selling and most successful debuts in Rock history. Taken from their debut album...

I could have sworn it was the A-4 Blue Angels but when I looked it up it popped up with the Hornets. Thought I must have imagined it but obviously not!
