Folks, The sad news of yet another COVID based issue but there is some light at the end of that tunnel at least in the interim. The following from the Temora Aviation Museum:-
Warbirds Downunder News
The Temora Aviation Museum management team has been closely monitoring the evolving COVID-19 situation and its potential effects on Warbirds Downunder, which was rescheduled for 6 & 7 March 2021.
[]After reviewing all information, it has become clear that the existing COVID-19 restriction of 500 visitors on site makes holding a major event extremely challenging. As a result, the decision has been made to cancel Warbirds Downunder. Existing ticket holders will be automatically issued a full refund, which will be facilitated by ticketing partner, Ticketmaster.
In lieu of Warbirds Downunder, the Museum will be hosting a different event on the weekend of 6 & 7 March 2021, with existing ticket holders being given first right to these tickets. The event may have as many aircraft as our previous Warbird events, including a considerable contribution by the RAAF in their 100th year.
This event will be in line with NSW Department of Health and be currently limited to 500 people. If restrictions ease, then additional tickets will be released accordingly. For further information please visit the event page on our website or email info@aviationmuseum.com.au [/i][/b]

Exceedingly sucks. Will be interesting to see what the alternate event shapes up like between now and then. Now really hoping the Tran-Tasman travel bubble is operational by early next year so I can get to Classic Fighters 2021. This about sums things up............. Temora Aviation Museum has provided an update today on their plans and current arrangements for their March 2021 event.
The Temora Aviation Museum is pleased to release details of the revised event on 6th & 7th March 2021- the Temora Air Force Centenary Showcase.
Event Description The Temora Air Force Centenary Showcase will include displays from more than 50 aircraft, including the RAAF Historic Collection at Temora, visiting private Warbird aircraft and current serving RAAF assets.
2021 is a significant year, marking the centenary of RAAF, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Temora Aviation Museum, and this air show will be a celebration of both!
Due to COVID restrictions, tickets are currently limited to 500 premium tickets. After this initial pre-sale, premium tickets will not be available for purchase, however more general admission tickets will be released if restrictions ease.
The event’s premium area will be split into three smaller enclosures to ensure COVID requirements are met. All three areas initially on sale are in a premium location, with a direct line of site to the flightline.
Food, beverages and merchandise will be available on-site
Event Times
Gates Open 9am, flying starts approximately 11am Flying ends approximately 4:30pm, gates close 5pm Ticket Area Descriptions Please click HERE to view the map and purchase tickets.
There is very limited seating available in all areas, so visitors are advised to bring their own chairs.
Area A (Capacity 180) This area has the only covered area on-site, with approximately half of the area situated under the display hangar awning. Please bring your own chair.
Area B (Capacity 70) This area consists of a small grandstand with bench seats, and a grassed area situated in front of the grandstand. Please note you cannot reserve seats in the grandstand. The grandstand is limited to 40 spectators to align with COVID restrictions. Please bring your own chair.
Area C (Capacity 250) This is a large grass area including a small number of picnic tables. Please bring your own chair. Ticket Information Given the limited tickets available, the decision was made to offer one type of ticket during the first release, a 2-day premium ticket, costing $140 plus ticketing fees.
Single day, children’s and family tickets will be available if or when COVID restrictions ease.
A maximum of 10 tickets are permitted to be purchased in one transaction.
For group bookings of 11 or more, please contact groups@ticketmaster.com.au
Camping Information You can purchase camping tickets in the same transaction as your event tickets. Camping will be available for Friday 5th & Saturday 6th March 2021, with two options available.
Tiger Moth Powered van site, approx. 8m x 6m. 2 nights only @ $120/site
Boomerang Unpowered van site, approx. 8m x 6m 2 nights only @ $110/site
If you wish to purchase campsites on either side of the event, please contact the Airfield Caravan Park on 0418 780 251
For further information or to ask a question please email info@aviationmuseum.com.au
SO for any NZ members of the forum possibly thinking about coming over for this event (depending on travel restrictions by then), I will be trying to pre-purchase a ticket in area B - it is one I have used at the Museum's last Flying Weekend in October and it is a good location for photography, can recommend it. (it is probably best option for those interested in photography at the event and there is the coffee cart directly behind the small stand and a couple of port-a-loos).
Anyone interested in coming over, drop me a line and we can see about catching up at the event.
Could be a good event by the sound of things.

So is there any indication of NSW changing their approach to large events? Originally NZ was going to have a limit (1,000?) at Level 1, but dropped it before actually implementing it.

NSW Government has just announced that the new maximum number of attendees for outdoors ticketed events will increase to 3,000 effective 1 December 2020. Potential further increases in New Year depending on situation (new and active Covid cases). So on that basis crowd size at Temora has just gone from 500 maximum to 3,000 maximum. I suspect additional designated viewing areas will be added to handle the increase in the crowd size.

Temora Aviation Museum update today that they still have a very limited number of general admission tickets left for this event.
Also their advice today that:
The RAAF Historic Flight fleet will be displaying, along with visiting aircraft, including:
BT-13, CAC Winjeel, Cessna O-1 Bird Dog, Consolidated PBY Catalina, DHC Caribou, Grumman Avenger, Hawk 127, Lockheed C-130, P-40 Kittyhawk, P-51 Mustang, PAC CT/4, PC-21 Roulette & T-6 Texan.
We will have a combination of static and aerial displays, as well as flypasts!
Counting down the days to this one and hoping the weather plays nice for the event weekend - forecast for the next week is a bit variable.

Preparations underway at Temora Aviation Museum today getting ready for the RAAF Centenary Aircraft Showcase this coming weekend. However, compared to previous days, the ramp is looking a little s**t. Hopefully they will make way for more interesting photographic subjects by Friday. Temora Ramp 3Mar21 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Otherwise, weather is looking promising for the weekend and if everyone does as they are told, we shouldn't have any disappointments. Looking at the other webcam at Temora today, looks like some good progress being made with the new taxiway and apron on the northwest side, with the first layer of bitumen going down. UPDATE: Also noted that the little entry booths are being placed into location and the "please stand socially distanced in the queue - X marks the spot" markings have been added onto the approach areas to the Museum entry points. Things are getting real.

The ramp at Temora looking much more interesting and promising today. Temora Ramp 4Mar21-2 by Colin Ford, on Flickr Weather forecast has firmed up with predictions of warm sunny days from Friday thru Sunday in the range 28 to 31 degrees C, change potentially later Monday. Camera gear all organised, camera batteries all charged, memory cards cleared and ready, scanner battery recharged, and items on my pre-event checklist being ticked off one by one. Interesting to note that TAM in their online store have recently added some 'Canberra Return to Flight' items into their merchandise range. UPDATE: 3PM Oz Time - TWO Boomerangs to be included on the flight line and displaying together this weekend at Temora.
