I made a road trip to Auckland a week ago to buy a new zoom lens for my camera. I thought I’d give it a test at Auckland International to see what it was like for airliner photography. I bribed my car crew with a box of Dunkin‘ Donuts from the airport shop and headed out the Puhinui road end to the observation bays. Shock horror, gasp! Both bays are blocked off to facilitate road widening.
Plane spotters be warned. It might be a while before they open again (if at all).
Don’t worry, the donuts didn’t go to waste. We ate them at the botanic gardens instead.

Yew, Wellington is now the best of the 'big three' for airliner photographs.

I was out there on Sunday and it looks like the carparks are staying and maybe being enlarged .
