Hi guys, Some images from the excellent, if a little crowded Midland Air Museum at Coventry Airport. Lots of interesting things in this museum, including a World War Two rarity, a surviving German Flettner helicopter undergoing restoration. Meteor Mk.4 EE531, the second oldest Meteor in existence surrounded by museum detritus. MAM 03SAAB J-29 Tunnan, not the most common sight outside of Sweden. MAM 08 Armstrong Whitworth Whitley fuselage section and bits. MAM 16 Boulton Paul P.111A delta wing research aircraft, described by its pilot as "flying on a knife edge". MAM 30Fairey Gannett T.2 trainer. MAM 40 Mil Mi-24 Hind acosted by BAE Systems who were offering upgrades to operators of the type. MAM 47 Fairey Ultra Light ship based utility helicopter. MAM 55 Flettner Fl 282 Kolibri. MAM 56 Voodoo and Viscount. MAM 61 Former Royal Saudi Air Force Lightning T.55. Is that "Fairey Ultra Light ship based utility helicopter" the type that was tethered on a wire and only went up vertically for over the horizon observation, and then back down again?

You might be thinking of this! Fa 330 The Fairey Ultra Light was a general utility helicopter designed for med-evac and reconnaissance. It wasn't spooled up on a cable, unlike the Fa 330.

I visited that museum in 2003 and 2008. On the second visit there was a Lockheed Electra parked some distance away. I was confident it was the former TEAL Electra ZK-TEB Atarau. Look at www.aussieairliners.org/electras/zk-teb/zkteb.html I hadn't seen that aircraft since before its sale by Air New Zealand in 1972.

Look at www.aussieairliners.org/electras/zk-teb/zkteb.html I hadn't seen that aircraft since before its sale by Air New Zealand in 1972. Quite possibly, Baginton Airport used to also be home to Air Atlantique, which operated a host of aircraft, including an ex-Air America DC-6, Twin Pioneer, DC-3s and Electras under umbrella operations. The lot has wound down and its aircraft dispersed, although there are a few still there, I think. The Electra nose at the museum was not one of TEAL's, I've checked! I was hoping it might be! I am of two minds regarding that Electra nose section. On the one hand it would be nice that that is TEB in that part of it has been saved though I hasten to add the equivalent section of ZK-TEA is at Ferrymead. On the other hand I optimistically would like to see ZK-TEB come home as part of Paul Brennan's mission to bring six airliners back to NZ in a complete state. TEB is one of those six.
