Hello, I ma getting back into plastic modelling again after about 45 years. I have been doing a lot of reading about finishing, amongst other things, and have come across plenty of mentions of a domestic acrylic gloss floor finish that is used on a part painted model so that the decals can be easily attached to the model. This product seem to be a UK one that is not available in NZ. Is there an alternative available here or some other product that works the same way ??
Any help will be appreciated. Mike

I brought back a couple of 700ml bottles of 'Klear' from Hawaii back in 2015, I see even they are no longer marketing it in their stores. The Longlife Self Shining Floor polish is quite a good substitute though

I used to use Klear floor shine on my parade shoes when I was in the RNZAF. It took a minute to apply, as opposed to hours of traditional polishing, and it looked better! I was not the only one either.

Don't worry about Future or like for a gloss coat. I found it difficult to use and a bit fragile.
There are plenty of good gloss coats out there made for modelling. I like acyclic Lacquers like Mr Color or SMS myself. But Tamiya does a nice one as well

All those using future...
I just got a repair job to do on a model Convair I built for Air Chathams...they had it in a place where it was exposed to lots of UV...interesting to note that the future (I used it as final coat on the model) had all crazed and cracked, matted and partially disintegrated in a couple of years 😳! If you are going to use the product, keep it out of direct sunlight

Not a problem for me - the remnants of a bottle I bought in 2009 were left in the sun and have now sadly vanished!
