Years ago - no idea how many - there was a "Close Paraparaumu Airport" group formed for just that purpose.
One spokesperson had emigrated here, had lived for a number of years in Kilbirnie, and had moved to PP only months before the outfit was formed.

Same thing has happened here at Nelson from time to time, but nothing ever came of them. Just disappeared. Last time a protest happened was when it was proposed to move the VOR station to a new location behind runway 02, a woman formed a protest group and it was front page news in the local paper. It just died out and the VOR was moved to it's current location. Another time a man from out of the area had just moved to near the airport and protested about the airport being there, he even had a group formed to take action but nothing ever came of it and it just quietly faded away.

It always amuses me that these "moaners" never offer a solution to possible relocation of the airport or acceptance that: A. the airport was there before they bought B. The significant economic and cultural impact that an airport such as Rongotai has on the country

Yes it has happened at many airports, aerodromes and bases. There have been these idiots protesting next to Ardmore, Ohakea, Whenuapai, and I am sure also Taieri, as examples. None of their views hold any water, they are just bleeting moaners.
This latest woman moaning about Wellington should move back to Pirie Street because the trams are long gone.

In the late 1980 a woman resident near Wellington Airport was instrumental in hastening the demise of Fieldair Freight's DC-3 operations because of the early morning noise. She later conceded she had to set her alarm in order to wake up and hear them!

I would too, but not to complain!
