For many years I have tossed up whether to video or shoot still photos, one day it dawned on me why not get both? So in the clip below of a beautiful Beaver, that now resides in New Zealand, you can hear a still camera firing on the footage, you will also see edited in the footage some still shoots. How this came about a simple piece of cut plumbing pipe, the video camera mounted above the still camera. I concentrate on the stills, video just press record and hope for the best, comes out fairly average sometimes, just edit out the bad bits.

Must try that , I can take video on my Nikon but recording stops as soon as the shutter is pressed to take a photo and then you need to restart video mode , and often a flat battery. I have a Panasonic video too , its a nice bit of kit , but I need a 2nd unit ( my wife ) to operate it at shows while I take stills . Sometimes , the director , does get the full co operation of unit 2 as they are easily distracted !

My camera can take photos while I video, and it doesn't affect the video. The still frame is a lesser definition from how just the pure still shots are set up, but still a decent shot can be taken.
