Hi all, Italian firm Italeri is releasing a Monte Cassino diorama set in 1/72. Called "Montecassino Abbey 1944: Breaking the Gustav Line" LINK, it comes with fifty Polish infantry and a US M4A2 Sherman II, 32 German paratroopers (is Fallschirmjager the right word?) and a Sturmgeschutz III, and a laser-cut MDF kit of the abbey itself which is "wreckable" with removable parts. I know the kit itself doesn't come with any New Zealand content but I'm certain there will be those out there - hopefully on this forum - who will see the potential of this set and add a Kiwi twist to their build.

I am confused. If the model is 32 x 34 x 20 cm, that surely cannot be 1/72 scale. The abbey was huge. Still is.
Also the Sherman would have been a New Zealand one, or British, not US.
If you build it in its complete pre-bombed form then there would be no Poles, they only turned up at the end in the Fourth Battle of Cassino, long after the abbey was destroyed. By then most of the Germans had been forced to withdraw by the Kiwis, Indians, Gurkhas and British troops within the New Zealand Corps.
