Hi all, I decided to pop out to Whanganui Airport yesterday and ended up sticking around to help owner-pilot John Luff and crewman (and PPL trainee) Cameron Walker preflight, fuel and spot the world's sole airworthy DH.112 Venom. I even got to remove all the Remove Before Flight tags! Massive thanks to John and Cameron for such close access to this magnificent machine.

Having just heard an unusual noise for these days, i think this just flew over Wellington. I didn't see the noise maker but was definitely different to the current pedestrian types. Can anyone confirm?.

Great stuff Zac, thanks for sharing! Anyone know what the crewman was doing intently staring down the inlet after shutdown, timing the spool down from idle or something similar?

Thanks folks! Given it was filmed on a "simple" iPhone I'm very pleased with how it turned out. Anyone know what the crewman was doing intently staring down the inlet after shutdown, timing the spool down from idle or something similar? That's exactly it - anything over 2min is apparently good, and Cameron clocked it at 2m13s.

A couple of things I noticed that would earn him a bollocking and a rap over the knuckles if they were donig it for real and that is no one riding the brakes while shifting the aircraft and no bonding wires when refuelling. TSk, Tsk

For the sake of completeness here are the other videos I've taken of ZK-VNM3 over the past two years:
