Yesterday Paul Dodd and Jen Richmond dropped in to Whanganui Airport for fuel on their way to Motueka and were kind enough to let me have a look around their aeroplane, which has been my favourite Bird Dog since I was a kid. This beautiful Vietnam veteran FAC served with the US Army's US 21st Recon Airplane Company BLACK ACES at Chu Lai. One of three recovered from Vietnam and of two then restored in New Zealand 31yr ago, it even has five field-repaired bullet holes to prove its combat experience! Would you believe she's still in the same paint applied during restoration? Here are a selection of photos, and you can find the full set here on Flickr.Untitled by Zac Yates, on Flickr Untitled by Zac Yates, on Flickr Untitled by Zac Yates, on Flickr Untitled by Zac Yates, on Flickr Untitled by Zac Yates, on Flickr A special photo: one of my favourite planes with Tomahawk ZK-FRS in the background, the aircraft I have the most hours logged in.
