This is just nuts. A Cessna has an engine failure and comes down on a railway line level crossing. Police struggle to get the injured pilot out of the wreck before a speeding train comes along!

Looks like an episode of Mythbusters. Glad the pilot was okay. Definitely buy a lottery ticket after that double whammy.

Gosh, looking at the ASN page on this incident, that level crossing was literally at the end of the runway on the map. The Cessna mustn't have gained much height before the engine failure! aviation-safety.net/wikibase/273962

Unbelievable! Amazing effort by cops extracting the poor (but lucky) pilot just in time. Its such a long straight stretch of train line however - I do wonder what the poor train driver made of what he was seeing. In end all too late and could only get on the horn..
