I happened upon this listing for a featurette film in the PRESS newspaper dated 26th of September 1951. I can only assume it must be footage of No. 488 Squadron in 1941-42? As this is before No. 14 Squadron got to Malaya with their Vampires.Or might it be No. 41 Squadron maybe?

Interesting to see the safety straps worn by the (RASC?) types shoving the loads out of the back door. Also that is mighty low flying by the Dakota pilot (the RNZAF was by this time using the RAF name for these aircraft), and you can see that flying and navigating experience was being tested on this type of operation. Bristol Freighter NZ5901 was lost on this type of operation five years later (10th December, 1956), with all occupants killed apart from just one of the four RASC members aboard, who somehow survived the crash, and was not found until over 12 days later, hiking through the jungle! Brief details of this accident can be found in Errol Martyn's "For Your Tomorrow, Vol 2", page 389.
