Today marks 17 years since I first created the WONZ Forum back on the 26th of February 2005. Thanks so much to everyone here who is part of this wonderful, vibrant, helpful and sharing community. Together we continue to progress aviation by sharing knowledge and ideas, photos and history. And we record history for the future here. It is so hard to believe it was as long ago as 17 years that a crazy idea came to me to start a NZ-based aviation forum, but it was one of the best things I have ever done in my life, because it's brought me so many hundreds of great friends, so much knowledge, so much fun and so many wonderful experiences. Thanks everyone!!

Dave, with this forum you managed to create (and curate) an unparalleled community and resource of information about New Zealand aviation. For more than a decade I've logged on almost daily to see what's new as this really is the place to find out.
Congratulations Dave!

Dave, you have developed such a repository of aviation history and encouraged both enthusiasts and novices alike to contribute and learn from other like minded people. The world wide nature of this forum allows us to see aviation history being made.

It is pretty special looking back and seeing how many amazing connections and friends with others in the aviation world we have all made by interacting here, and how whenever any topic comes up there are always people who can offer information or advice and encouragement. The amount of history shared here, often first hand, and the level of respect and intelligence is awesome. We are NZ's aviation hive mind. For a while a few years back I worried Facebook was going to make the forum redundant as so many new specialist NZ aviation pages were created there by people, but no, we're still going strong here and everything back to day one remains a searchable archive if individuals have not removed their old posts.

A medal may be beyond our reach but at least we can 'award' you a ribbon MBE (Civil)

Dave certainly does deserve a medal, at the very least.
Congratulations Dave on such a wonderful site, even though I’m relatively new to the site I know there’s always an enthralling read to be had from a most impressive archive. Keep up the good work.
