It's great to hear the news that Mike Spaulding's Vought F4U-1D Corsair VH-NQW, had its first post-restoration test flight yesterday, with Stephen Death at the controls. The aircraft is based at Mareeba, in northern Queensland, Australia.
This aircraft is a Pacific theatre combat veteran and is apparently the only airworthy F4U-1D in the world. It will be terrific if it can join Graham Hosking's Corsair in the air sometime in the future.

Absolutely fantastic news, one of those restorations I've been following via magazine and online updates for many years. Congratulations to Mike and everyone involved in this significant machine's return to flight (had no idea it was the sole flying -1D until this news).

I am not surprised about the sale, I had a feeling that may be the case.

Good show chaps. Is this the same Stephen Death who was a school boy in Thames?

Good show chaps. Is this the same Stephen Death who was a school boy in Thames? Steve grew up in the Albury area, his Dad started Hazair in 1960. hazair.com.au/about/(PS just realised there is an Albury in Canterbury, NZ we are talking Albury, Victoria in OZ)
