Uff was awarded a CAF commendation for his work with introducing the A4 into service on 75 Squadron. However in my records, I only have Uff serving on 75 as an LAC with Vampire's, pre 1970. I never met Uff, but I was aware he was the Secretary of the 14 Squadron Association, based in Blenheim, and he turned me down for joining us at the 2010, 2012 and 2014 75sqn reunions. After his death I have not heard of any 14 Sqn Assn, and I do not have a nice photo of him. Was it passed onto someone else? Can anyone who was at his funeral please scan me a copy of his funeral card and email me it please? Anyone have a nice photo of Uff for my Last Post 75 Sqn Assn section? Anyone know of his date of birth? The funeral card could have all of this info in one. Thanks GlenT

Thanks Errol. I have this info too, cheers. But it does not give me his DOB, or a nice photo of him, lol. I collect funeral cards of 75 ers, but many people fill these cards with religious verse and song, and nothing about the chap or lady it is about sadly.

Glen, The NZ BDM entry for his death online also gives his DoB, 10 Feb 35. In more recent times the NZ BDM often gives a DoB along with the death entry. (previously it was just the age) Errol

Thanks Errol. That's awesome. I do not know where to go for the BDM. Is there a link? The ones I have seen all demand a fee or are through Ancestry in the USA....!!! Much appreciated.

Glen, www.bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search/• Births that occurred at least 100 years ago. • Stillbirths if registered at least 50 years ago. • Marriages that occurred 80 years ago. • Deaths that occurred at least 50 years ago or the deceased's date of birth was at least 80 years ago. A very useful (and free to use) site! Errol

I used to work with Uff, in both my times on 75 sqd. My first time was after my Mech's Airframe course in 1968 ish.Uff and Eric Beeby where my mentors. Again when I returned to 75 Sqdn in 1972 Uff took me under his wing. All the A4's had under 1000 hours flight times. I was there when that was achieved.

I have been directed to Uff's Grandson Andre, who has sent me a quick photo of Uff's funeral card. Sadly I cannot upload it here...!! It keeps asking for a url... Snaphead... please let me know your name and time on 75sqn, so I can check your detail in the nominal roll is correct. And anyone else that was on 75 too, thanks.

Again to 75 sqdn in early 1972 to replace a young marriedI LAC who did not want to go on exercises. I can not accurately recall my exact dates on 75 Sqdn.

I think Uff is in the annual Squadron photo in the early 70s GT. I'll need to check on our home computer later.

Hi there I came across this by chance but I have some original rnzaf photos for sale on trademe and one of the photos is to Ian and signed by his squadron. If you search ‘original rnzaf photos’ on trademe they will come up. I tried to email him from an address I found some years ago to tell him about them, but never heard back. Sorry to hear of his passing & hope some one sees this that may be of interest.

Hello, Jacinta Brown here, Ian’s eldest granddaughter. Ian Bruce Uffindell was born on 10 Feb 1935, he passed peacefully on 1 July 2016, surrounded by family. I’m in Perth so don’t have much in the way of his career memorabilia, but I do have a copy of his funeral booklet which I’ll try to post, and I’m happy to email photos if need be.
Also, very much interested in any photos anyone has of him during his career if I could please be pointed in the right direction? I named my son after Gramps and would love to show him more about his great grandfather.
