A plaque on the Auckland grave of my cousin (first cousin, twice removed) records him as Percy Charles Campbell, 1913-1988 Flying Officer 40323 RNZAF. But I cannot locate any record of him under that name or number. Can anyone help?

Pretty certain that in early 1944 P C Campbell was in charge of (or in a fairly senior position) at Espiritu Santo with the Base Depot Workshops staff at Pallikulo airstrip, where the RNZAF's F4U-1 Corsairs were being assembled, and other types were being adjusted modified and/or repaired. He is mentioned in that unit's history from time to time.
