From my limited research I understand 489 used R/P's in the anti-shipping role. But did 487 use them? There are some rather old threads here on the forum however most of the photos have disappeared I am looking at carrying out a 'code 3' conversion of a RAF Mosquito model (Corgi, in 1/72) into a Kiwi version but have little to go on. I know Oldmodeldecals in NZ does decals for a 489 Mossie which is a start! If anyone can assist with any details and in particular any photos it would be greatly appreciated I'm aware No.75 Sqn used underwing rockets postwar including on 'Operation Scuttle' but not sure if these were the 4 rail per wing R/P's or the two rail per wing loads... Cheers in advance!

Would be grateful if anyone else has further info on ANY use of R/P's on Kiwi Mossies. Old Model Decals does a set of decals for a 489 Sqn Mossie but photos of their FB.VI's seem hard to find...

Hey Stu, sorry for a very late response. Can't speak for 489 (and given the short time they had Mossies you'll do well to find a photo) but I've never seen any photographic or other evidence to suggest that 487 Squadron aircraft were fitted with RPs. HR339 was never fitted for RPs either during 487 service or for export to NZ.

I had not seen this tread till now too. Yes I am sure No. 489 Squadron used rockets. Don Wilkie will be able to confirm, he's writing a massive book on the squadron.
But like Alex, I have never heard of No. 487 Squadron using them. They were a bomber squadron whereas 489 were Coastal Command.

As I had very little to go on I took the easy option and went with a postwar 75 Sqn scheme Looking forward to seeing Don's book in due course (thanks Dave) so will not rule out a second project in the future. Corgi's 1/72 diecast Mossie is an old casting & the silver scheme shows up a few gaps here and there but I'm pleased with the end result!
