Foreign forces births, deaths, marriages?

This is probably a long shot, but according to my late grandmother a U.S. admiral was married in our front lounge during the war. Apparently we had a few U.S. personnel through the house on account of my grandmother being a driver for them plus my great grandmother owning a club popular with the officers.

I’ve always wondered about this wedding and would love to find out if it were true and who the officer was etc. Does anyone have any ideas about where/how I could go about investigating this?

Where is the house, as in what city? And what was your grandmother's name? That may help in the search.
