Does anyone have any more information on the Beauforts that were allocated to 489 Sqn? Are there any photos in existence? This is what I have...
L9962:
N1075: 1941: August; Initial squadron allocation. 1942: January; Transferred to the Middle East.
N1089: 1941: August; Initial squadron allocation. 1942: January; Transferred to the Middle East.
N1105: A. 1941: August; Initial squadron allocation. 1942: January; Transferred to the Middle East.
N1106: 1941: August; Initial squadron allocation. 1942: January; Transferred to the Middle East.
Tasman Model Products produced a decal set (TD7211 & TD4811) with N1105:A as an option. Oldmodels produce OMD0757 1/48, OMD0758 1/72 & OMD0759A

Don Wilkie, who has written and is preparing to publish a new extensive history on No. 489 (NZ) Squadron, has asked me to post these photos for you on his behalf. He says: "The photos are in the new book which are from the Gordon Willis collection. Cheers Don"

Scarce as hens' teeth those Beaufort shots, AND the Blenheim IV! Also interesting camouflage of the hangar at rear of 3rd and 4th shots.

It's wonderful to see these photos. I'm excited to read the book! Tasman Model Products produced a decal set (TD7211 & TD4811) with N1105:A as an option. I didn't realise that - I really want to build the Airfix 1/72 kit so this makes my job of deciding the finish much easier.

Hey Zac, What about the ICM Beaufort in 1/48? should you want to go big. I'm thinking along your lines for a Kiwi Beau.

What about the ICM Beaufort in 1/48? Cost and display space. Plus I just want to build the Airfix kit - I really enjoy their engineering.

Have an idea that another UK kit manufacturer (Frog) also put out a 1/72 Beaufort (other Board members will put us right!)

Have an idea that another UK kit manufacturer (Frog) also put out a 1/72 Beaufort (other Board members will put us right!) They did, and experience with it makes me very grateful for the existence of the Airfix one! Limited-run kits have also been available over the years but their parts require a lot of prep work before going together - a reward for the careful builder.
