I will not, in fact, see you there as I’ve come down with something. I hope there’s good weather for everyone attending!

Despite the low cloud and cold, blustery wind, we still got about 80 aircraft in to Hawera for the fly-in! I was in Cessna 180 JFG and we had a very enjoyable flight there and back from Hamilton. We had about a dozen aircraft down from the Waikato alone... Some new aircraft, some aircraft I hadn't seen for a while, and some faces I hadn't caught up with for a while too. Thanks, Hawera Aero Club. Good effort! A real bush plane. Hadn't seen this machine around before. Looks like a lot of fun to be had. Fabulous shiny C170 looks green due to the reflection of the grass in the polished aluminium. Lots of elbow grease to keep it that way, I bet John tells me he got sick of losing maps out of the open cockpit of his Hansen Deuce, so he fitted a canopy to the rear pit. Was originally from a Gypsy Moth apparently. The paint job on the Tiger Hawk is always good for a smile. And where would we be without volunteer parking marshalls? Thanks all you volunteers. These events would not be so smoothly run without you all.
