I understand this will be pretty epic. The Pacific Airshow that gets 10 million viewers at Huntington Beach, California, will be performing on the Gold Coast of Australia next year! 18-20 August 2023 Loads of international acts. pacificairshowaus.com/

Tickets go on sale for this airshow next week on 1st of February.
I had actually considered going to this when I first learned about it, but now that I will be in the UK the month before I doubt I will have enough money to go, sadly.

Who else is going? Only 10 days away now.
No warbirds on the line up so not really of much interest to me, but I hope it goes well for them.

There's been nothing listed that would get me flying 5 hours across the continent for this show. I hope it goes off well for them but this one is not for me....

We're confirmed and will be recording content for PCDU while there. So far we'll be focusing mostly on the visitors and a few Oz routines we've not talked to before. Probably also find some folks we may know to talk from the punters' angle about what's different re: over beach, the on-ground features, etc. We can easily catch up with the local acts we know afterwards to get a debrief but for now, our first interviews are starting today and then on-site from Wednesday next week for media events, etc. I'll also be catching up with Matt Jolley (Dave & I have worked with him but I've not met him in person yet ) and meet Wayne Boggs (air boss) plus catch up with friends (oh, and escape Melbourne winter for a bit ). Feel free to reach out if you're going to be there and lets see if we can catch up for a bit

Great stuff Grant.
I was told tonight that a load of the US military acts have now dropped out of the show. Had you heard that?

Sadly, yes. As per their latest "Final Performer Line Up" the PACAF F-16 Demo Team, USN Leap Frogs and USAF C-5M are out due to operational requirements, which is a shame. We're still going up as there's a chance to meet with some old friends, catch up in person with online friends and check out how Kevin & Ken from Pacific Airshows put on something for the general populace, not just us aviation folks. I want to check out what's happening on the ground, not just in the air, and see if I can get a feel from those general public folks I get a chance to chat to. Our next episode is coming out soon (hopefully over the weekend if we can) and it includes a chat with Kevin Elliott (organiser) and also with Jeff Boerboon who flies the Yak-110. We're hoping to spend a day at Southport airport to catch up with Jeff & the others we know using it as a base. We should also be able to check out the Yak-110 up close & personal, so that should be a plus (I saw it at Osh19 and it was amazing ).

Have to say there is absolutely nothing in that lineup that would get me there - better events elsewhere with better acts.

At least it doesn't involve as much staring into the sun as several Australasian airshows?

100% correct re staring into the sun! To be honest, those of us here are not the target audience for this show: it's the general public and inspiring people to see aviation as a possible thing in their future (fun, employment, etc). Even just to make people more willing to put up with aircraft operating in their area would be a plus. So yes, for many who go to Avalon, WOI, Wanaka, Temora, etc etc etc this is probably not enough to get them there. Given the Saturday event has sold out General Admission, I suspect it's got enough Joe Public types interested enough to attend plus a few aviation enthusiasts from the area who want to check it out.
