I am sure those interested in NZ's gliding history might find this of interest. The following photo appeared in The Herald newspaper on the 8th of April 1931. It looks like something built in an African village from old tea chests and brown paper to me, and the glider built in Colditz had more finesse, lol. Then this advert appeared in The Herald on the 15th of April 1931. Interestingly I think someone has done some 1930's Photoshop on the same photo to clean up the shape and lines and has added a hawk nose art! Lol.

Made its final flight on 13 Nov 32. Dave might be able to copy here the Auckland Star's photo of its demise?
WRECKED AFTER MAKING RECORD Flight.—The Auckland Gliding Club's machine wrecked on the sand dunes at Muriwai Beach yesterday. The pilot, Mr. H. G. Pointon, was seriously injured. Just prior to the accident Mr. Pointon had carried out a flight lasting three minutes, a record for New Zealand. Auckland Star, Volume LXIII, Issue 270, 14 November 1932, Page 8.
