For those of my friends here who have not seen my post on Facebook, sadly my lovely Mum, Judy Homewood, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, as a result from complications after a very nasty fall. She was 78.
Though not really an aviation person, Mum has always been a massive supporter of my own aviation interests and activities. She always took an interest in what was happening with the Wings Over New Zealand Forum, or our Forum Meets, and the podcast. She was great to bounce ideas off of and give little snippets of advice. I know she was very proud of the things I have achieved with aviation both with the Forum and WONZ Show podcast, and with Sport Flying magazine (which she enjoyed reading sometimes), she was able to tell me this before she passed away. It made me feel very humble.
Dad was always the big aviation fan when I was growing up and I am so sad that he passed away just a few months after I founded this forum, as he would have loved it so much and been at all the events we have had, and supported all my ventures. I never got to have that sadly, but Mum has always been my quiet supporter who always was there to toss ideas around with and discuss things.
We will miss her tremendously. RIP Mum.

I meant to add some will have noted that I released the WONZ Show yesterday as planned. It was all edited and ready to go from last weekend, so that was good. But I still hope to also release the fifth and final Vampire Month episode with Brett Emeny on Wednesday as planned, if I can. Please forgive me if events overtake things though. Mum's funeral is Monday so I think it should be all good.

Sorry to hear about your loss Dave. I’m sure I would speak for most when saying don’t worry about the form for a bit. Focus on what you have to for the moment. All the best.

I know pretty much how you must feel Dave, as passing of my mum about 4.5 years ago was a huge loss for me. As it happens, I just looked at her last surviving lock of hair (silver of course) this morning, when I was going through my office draws, hadn't looked at it for some time, a very precious remnant.
So look after yourself Mr Homewood (from one Dave to another).

Thanks everyone for your kind words, it means a lot. I created this forum in 2005 just before my Dad died. It was the Forum that got me through that tough time, knowing that I had lots of good friends here. Now I have thousands more members and great friends through the forum, this community is a massive part of my life and it means a huge amount to me. Mum knew that and she was proud of the effort I go to in order to keep this place going. Some of my best friends in the world have come from this forum. And I have been able to meet many heroes and people in the industry that I look up to because of it too.

The passing of a loved one takes time to adjust to the loss. But with most of us the memories remain strong on our hearts. My thoughts are with you at this time Dave

So sorry to hear that Dave. Losing one's parents is a challenging time. Know that you have the support of all of us here on the forum. Baz & I lost our folks within 4 months of each other and we have made the point of catching up with each other more often and to reminisce. Family and friends will sustain you during this sad occasion.
