The Tempest project has been getting worked on for a few years now. It is the joint nation element I wasn’t aware of. Didn’t know about the other European project either, or Lockheed’s proposal to Japan of a Raptor/Lightning mix. |

Bit of an insult to Japan given the age of the Raptor and the fact that the USAF would like to ditch them. And as I understand, there is an operational compatibility issue between the two. |
