Quick selection of photos from Saturday's Aircraft Showcase at Temora Aviation Museum. The event attracted a good sized crowd, due to a number of the aircraft needing to depart soon after the completion of the day's flying to head over to Tocumwal for the airshow there the following day, they had the flight line walk open ahead of the day's flying activity. Was a very clear, bright, sunny day, 10/10th blue and as the flying program progressed the position of the sun relative to the aircraft flying along the display line was not ideal - strong backlighting and lots of shadows. Temps were sitting around 30 degrees C. Next event at Temora is their "A Day at the Lake" to be run mid October. Selection of TAM aircraft will be participating at the event at Newcastle in November. On their current 2024 schedule, only THREE events listed at Temora, 6 April and 7 September Aircraft Showcases, then Warbirds Down Under 19-20 October 2024. Their aircraft will be busy with other events next year including Tyabb, Warbirds Over Illawarra, and Scone/Hunter Warbirds.

Temora and Tocumwal shows on consecutive days was an abundance of warbirds. Matt and Caz Henderson to be applauded for their efforts to firstly get the show started and then to continue to produce a great program. Next show already announced and it shall no doubt add new dimensions with a number of warbirds coming on-line before 2025. Being there, one can only imagine what is was like during its heyday as a B24 OTU. The place is simply immense and looking at the map and photographs in the Aero Club gives only a glimpse of what it must have been like. Anyone driving through the area (or not) should divert to the museum established by Matt and Cas and get the 'feel' of the place.....the "Drome Cafe" is not too bad either and a nice place to reflect with a sticky bun and a coffee. This year's show was really complimented with the first post restoration display appearance of the newly rebuilt VH-BOB, Mustang A68-104 brought to the show by the Eastgate family. Bob Eastgate was a leader in the nacent warbird movement on this side of the Ditch and operated 104 for many years before its unfortunate forced landing at Point Cook. Also, look out for "Southern Cross Mustangs" three ship......

Thanks so much for the great Temora shots Col and to Ando for the Tocumwal report. I attended a terrific virtual presentation by Matt and Caz about developing their museum there and I'd love to get there one day soon.

A few more photos from the Temora Aviation Museum's last Aircraft Showcase. On the Saturday morning before flying commenced and whilst the flightline walk was in progress, TAM had permission to have a drone up to film the activity on the apron and flight line. The red arrow - points to Ando and myself talking Mustang books and Mustangs (secret men's Mustang business). Temora Drone Annotated by Colin Ford, on Flickr Ando, I will have to add Tocumwal to my list of shows to attend in the future, it seems to be going from strength to strength, and the Museum there is also showing good growth and good interaction with the public. I flew into and out of Tocumwal a number of times from the mid-1970s to the mid 1980s, and back then the scale of the wartime airfield could still be seen and felt. I still remember the instructions of where to find the key - on a large rough wooden tag - to the toilets if the airfield happened to be unattended when you arrived and where to find the phone number to ring the refuelling agent to come and unlock the pumps (was a reminder that you had to carry some coin for the public pay phone and hope no one had vandalised the public pay phone pre mobile phones.) I will certainly be looking forward to the "Southern Cross Mustangs" three ship........maybe a fourship by the time of Warbirds Down Under 2024? - three ship and solo 'joker'. Also sad to see the news about the passing of Gordon Glynn this past week, remember seeing him display at TAM a number of times in past years.

Considering the awesome line up of aircraft, it is surprising to see how small that crowd is. Did it build up later? I hope so. Or is it a case that Temora's remote location means small crowds unless it's the big two-day show?

Dave,
What you cannot really see were the large number of patrons sheltering under the "carport" in front of the hangar. It was also a while before the show actually started. It certainly fleshed out after this pic was taken

Just heard, then dashing outside, (cross checked on FlightRadar24) spotted the RAAF Roulettes heading north from RAAF Sale over south Canberra on their way to RAAF Williamtown for the airshow at Newcastle and open day at Williamtown this weekend. After a few days of wet and miserable weather up on that part of the coast north of Sydney, weather clearing for what should be a good weekend for an airshow.

This was a cracking show. Really glad I paid for access to the fort. The elevated view really is a unique perspective with some displays at eye level. The whole concept of displays over the Newcastle city beach (rather than at the base) I think worked very well. Highlights of the display for me was the Mustang/F35 formation, the P8 display was a surprise, flown very low and with a sonar buoy drop in front of us. The Rhino display was crazy impressive and many thought outshone the F35. Good to hear Ando on the speakers. I was wondering where the commentators where and if they were in the fort observation bunker?
Also went to the Williamtown open day on the following day with a surprisingly large number of ppl given there was no flying at this event. It was great to see the a/c on the ground and grab some good merch. Also had a chat with Easty at the Mustang which he flew the day before, what a top bloke. I guess I was a bit disappointed access to the base was so limited. I get there are increased security concerns and that access to the F35 precinct would be a stretch but maybe they could have let people get around the old Hornet shelters or something. The area we were kept in was a bit small for the crowd. Interestingly could see the old Hornets in the distance all parked out in the open still waiting a new home (Ukraine or the US adversary mob?). FighterWorld was all open too so was able to see the Worimi F18 there for first time. Overall I see this event coming back.
