Here is a great video of Louis Horschel's Goodyear FG-1D Corsair N43FG, formerly NZ5612 with the RNZAF, displaying at Thunder over Michigan 2022.

Awesome To me thought I can't understand why such a boring scheme is on such an expensive aircraft

Awesome To me thought I can't understand why such a boring scheme is on such an expensive aircraft That is the exact scheme it would have worn when it was Brought On Charge at Los Negros on 15 June 1945, before the RNZAF markings were applied. NZ5648 would have looked the same.

Personally, I like it! Less-is-more

I like it too, but if RNZAF roundels were painted on top of the stars and bars, I'd like it more.

Nice graceful display, on the subject of her scheme, would the silver rings around the gun ports have been in place in service life, don't think I have seen that before?

What do you mean by plain fasteners, Ando?

Fasteners around cockpit area unpainted. Its easier just to do that as the paint chips easily with fastener removal/installation. You see it on a number of restorations particularly (not in this case) engine Dzus fasteners for the cowls

Ah yes. I see. Also on this corsair there is bare metal behind the cowl flaps, but that are looks to be painted in the footage of the original RNZAF FG-1D's.

Yes as mentioned owners choice, the silver rings are part of the gun port, pretty much a tube with a round/curved portion to seat on the leading edge.
