Do any members know the current location of Ivan Strathern, he is the owner of Matangi Airfield, Waikato ?
Airfield telephone numbers are disconnected.
A current look at the airfield from google earth shows that the strip is being maintained.
Any assistance in contacting Ivan would be gratefully accepted.

I think Ivan is now living in a retirement village in Hamilton city. He has hasn't lived out Matangi way for some time.
I don't know for sure, but I recall someone telling me the new owner was a Hamilton supermarket owner, but I'm not sure which one.

Hariyakka and other contributors, please may I ask if you could make a few local enquiries regarding retirement villages in Hamilton, as I am UK based and enquiries are difficult.
I am trying to contact Ivan Strathern regarding his Luton LA5 Major (G-BCKP) that he imported from the UK to NZ around twenty years ago. The Luton Major is a very pretty British designed homebuilt aeroplane.
Sadly this airframe is currently missing without trace.
Any assistance with contacting Ivan would be most gratefully appreciated.

Looks like there's one on Bellevue Road. I'd never heard of it either. It would appear that there's a good strip plus large hangar with a concrete pad outside. I'm pretty sure that Ivan owned a number of aircraft over the years didn't he? |

A number of us have known Ivan over the years and would also appreciate any update on his aviation assets, so please don't be too secretive about this.

I think Ivan owned DH82 ZK-ATM in the early 1970s I purchased a large collection of Tiger Moth parts and BA hardware around 1975 and I'm sure I bought them from him
