Hi guys, There is a new range of kits out by a cottage industry company called kiwi kits. They are being sold on TradeMe at the moment for approx $45.00 each. The range at the moment is a CT-4B Airtrainer, CT-4E Airtrainer and AESL Airtourer in 1/72 Resin. I have Purchased one of the Airtourer kits and whilst I havent started it yet, I am very impressed by the quality and accuracy - far better than the old Tasman Airtrainer! The manufacturer, Dave Lochead is based in Blenheim and I have subscribed to his news e-mails. He has just started the master for a 1/48th Airtrainer. He is also going to do a 1/48 Canberra in both BI-12 and T13 versions, a 1/72 moth Minor and vega Gull. I'm going to order a CT-4E shortly I think... have a look under Toys and Models - Models - Aircraft on TradeMe.

Great news - I did see the Airtourer a whiloe back on trademe but wondered what the kit was like. Sounds good.
How do we subscribe to his emails? Has he got as website?
Oooh, Moth Minor and Vega Gull, sounds great... pity theĆ½'re 1/72nd, I hope he does them in 1/48th scale too

Bruce
How does one get on his email newsletter list? A 1/48 Airtrainer would fit in with my other RNZAF stuff that's for sure. Does he have a website?
Cheers.

here is Daves e-mail address - He has given permission for it to be posted as the more interest he gets in these kits, the better the chances of getting more of the unusual kits. skygodnz@clear.net.nz He is currently doing a run of Vega Gulls in 1/72 and has a 1/48 Canberra just about ready to go. The molds for the 1/48 Airtrainer will be ready in a week or so he reckons - Thats not a bad production rate....He is looking at other types too - including a Fox Moth!

P.S. Dave Lochead also has another project - a restoration of a genuine Vickers Vincent!

So, where does he live? Is that the Vincent at Wigram, or the one that the Subritzky's own? Or is it the mystery third one that is supposedly going to Aussie to fly???

This must be the one that was alledgedly recovered from the Wairau Riverbed. I had heard it possibly was crossing the Tasman maybe. Amazing how this nearly extinct aircraft is making a great resurgence.

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum. My apologies for that. I'd heard that a rumour that a Vincent was going from NZ to Aussie. Since there is only one known about in general circles that doesn't belong to the Subritzky's or the RNZAF Museum, I put two and two together, and must have got three... sorry. I know... Shouldn't listen to rumours.
I take a particular interest in the Vincent, I am currently working on a book on the GR squadrons and have been interviewing several people who flew in them or worked on them. I'd be interested to hear more about your example if you're willing to share details please?
I'm sure many members of the forum would be keen to know more about your model kitsets too, so feel free to post any adverts, updates and info here to promote them.
Cheers Dave

The Vincent is NZ301, as best as we can ascertain anyway. I still have it but many other projects hold me back from doing anything with it. The 1/48 Airtrainers are due for iminent rel;ease, available direct from myself, or Modelcrafts and Hobbies if you live in Wellington. Email is: skygodnz@clear.net.nz
cheers, Dave
