In the December 1973 issue of New Zealand Wings magazine there is a section on the latest IPMS model competition winners. The overall winner was a 1/48 Scale DH89 Dragon Rapide painted in NAC colours.
Does anyone know, as it does not specify, was this a manufactured kitset? Has there ever been a 1/48 scale Dragon Rapide or Dominie? I have never heard of one in that scale.
I wonder if it were scratchbuilt. I doesn't say in the caption. I'd love one in that scale. Any ideas who may have manufactured it if it wasn't scratchbuilt?

I have since read that Frog made a 1/67 scale Rapide. Could this be the one mistaken for 1/48th in Wings i wonder. Or was there really one that size?

I think you must be thinking of the 1/48 Aeroclub Rapide. No longer available as it was a short run multi-media kit with vacformed fuse. Would strictly be a kit found in collectors sale I would think, but would be happy to be wrong.
Cheers.

Hang on, 1973 would be far to early for the Aeroclub 1/48 Rapide. But it's the only 1/48 kit I know of.
Cheers.
