Two photos of Corsair II, JT282: 6S of 1833 NAS / 15 NFW, HMS Illustrious. 1944: 25th July. Sub-Lt. N.N. Brynildson RNZNVR. Operation CRIMSON. Strikes on Japanese airfields in the cities of Sabang, Lhoknga & Kutaraja, Sumatra. Ki-21 "Sally" shared destroyed which crashed into the sea 20 miles West of Sabang. c09:30. 1830NAS Corsairs aboard HMS Illustrious off Surabaya, 5th-27th May 1944. IWM-A24277.
Operation PEDAL, June 21st 1944: Sub Lt J. R. Baker, RCNVR taxies his Corsair ‘6C’ past the crash barrier into the aircraft park, his aircraft was tail hit by a Japanese anti-aircraft shell in the raid on Port Blair, Andaman Islands ripping a large hole in the starboard horizontal stabilizer. © IWM A 24705

Then I looked closer and saw a familiar elevator. It's an Avenger with its wings folded as the port wing has the pilot tube sticking out of the wing tip. And when the wing is folded down and back that's what you see.

It's the bloody computer "auto-correct" spelling that probably caused that. Dumb computer wouldn't know what a pitot tube was ...
