Sounds definitely.....not too shabby. Now if the weather will just co-operate and give us good flying and photography weather, not what the currrent forecasts are suggesting we will get. Fingers crossed.
....and RAAF Balloon just announced as attending as well...........

Back home after a long day, up and out the door before the sun was up, drive over to Temora Aviation Museum, May 2023 Aircraft Showcase, then drive back home arriving after the sun was down. Long day. Now downloading all the photos from my camera. Weather wise, day started out quite clear, blue skies, crisp, clear morning, slight breeze, lots of promise. However as the day went on, the forecast weather front bringing cloud, a drop in temperatures, stronger breezes and the chance of rain arrived. Fortunately the rain held off, but the increasing cloud cover did make photography more difficult as the day progressed. A well above average sized crowd in attendance, much larger than the usual Aircraft Showcases, probably drawn by the aircraft lineup that was there today. As everyone arrived, TAM volunteers were handing out free 'goodie bags'which were in fact the items produced for Warbirds Down Under 2022 - that had to be cancelled due to the continual wet weather last year. So that comprised a souvenir tote bag, one of the event Premium ticket holder caps, the premium event ticket holder lanyard and pass, and the souvenir program. (All good to add to my other "Airshows That Never Were" Collection, which incudes similar items from Warbirds Over Wanaka 2020 and Classic Fighters 2021.) Temora May 2023 Booty by Colin Ford, on Flickr I will post some photos and a fuller report of the day's activities and events tomorrow, when my eyes have had a chance for some rest. Cheers for now,

Temora Aviation Museum Aircraft Showcase 6 May 2023. Part 1 - pretty much in order that they were taken. And of course Warbirds Down Under 2024, which if the weather gods don't pull a repeat of recent years should be something to look forward to. There was supposed to be a Coronation Flypast over Canberra later today comprising a selection of aircraft from No.100 Squadron RAAF (including the Mustang) operating out of Temora, plus a pair of Super Hornets and a pair of Growlers out of RAAF Amberley. Usual path from the north over Mount Ainslie and over the top of the Australian War Memorial, down ANZAC Parade and over the Lake to new Parliament House, before curving back to the north west and north east respectively to head home. However, the current weather in Canberra I think has put paid to that, solid low level cloud cover, fairly contant rain and growing stronger winds. Cloud base in some parts well below 300ft AGL. I definitely will not be heading out for this one.

Colford...........there is a copy of the Mustang book we discussed winging its way to me from the Old Dart as we speak. I shall bring it down to the next Temora Showcase on the lake and hope that I shall have a personal inscription and several wise words from you in the frontispiece Ando, book I mentioned is still at the printers, due out on the 15-16th May in the UK, so pre-orders get sent first. Ones promised to me by the publishers will follow swiftly I hope. It's this one........ Wingleader Photo Archive #22 Allison Mustangs RAF Service by Colin Ford, on Flickr If the weather is good, I will definitely be at the September showcase at TAM, otherwise October by the Lake is a 50:50 for me at present. Happy to inscribe don't know how wise my words will be, but I'll try and make sure that they are suitable given our shared love of Mustangs. And for our NZ friends, the book does have some RNZAF pilots flying Allison engine Mustangs with the RAF content.

I actually met NZ1061 about 1,000 years ago when it arrived in Sydney from across The Ditch. Operated by Warwick Greville before Dave and Caroline purchased it. I know he will hit me with something but Dave has over 34,000 hrs flight time now all very close to the ground. Hallet must have about 1,000,000......
