And it will never sell for anything near that ask. And quite frankly it shouldn't be sold at all!

Why shouldnt it be sold? There are others on display and it's theirs to sell. Agree the price could be a bit much.

The way I and others look at it is that they campained, made promises, had great ideas when they asked for the aircraft, in reality they didn't have a dollar to even move the aircraft, it got pushed around various places at ohakea and filled up with birds until Brendon took it in. Now years later they wish to sell it because they are desperate for cash, this to many feels quite wrong, you don't ask for a gift such as this only to turn around and try and make a buck from it, the potential implications of future defence gifts to groups could potentially be in doubt. From a personal level, this is the best airframe out there to get flying, yes as you say there are other airframes on display in NZ but nothing that will fly. I tried many times to do something with it only to be met with silence. So I spent my money on other aircraft.

I wonder if they hope someone like Drakken might want her hence the price?

SVAS was not 'gifted' the Macchi, they paid a significant sum for it, a lot of money for a small organisation. Now, many years later, with the modern economic climate and other big bills, the membership have decided to sell it, something they have the right to do, I'm sure.

As it's there's they are obviously welcome to try and sell it, it's useless them owning it. Moraly I think it's wrong. And we won't agree on the gift vs paid debate. I know the others paid a 10k dismantling and boxing fee for there aircraft, pretty much a "gift" if you ask me.. I would happily buy it for that! All a mute point anyway as it will never sell for that ask. It's more than draken paid for the entire fleet.
