Ugly? I think the term is utilitarian. Only thought beautiful by the designer and his/her mum

I'll bet his Mum was lying, for his sake.

If they purchased and designed military vehicles to look pretty we would be replacing fleets every year or less

They are great pieces of kit, unlike the ugly Pinzgauer. Still no buyers for any of the 100+ LAV's? Great buy Aunty Helen, worth losing the Strike Wing for these white elephants

The LAVS have been deployed on two overseas missions and saved Kiwi soldiers lives. Thats twice more than the strike force As to the sale, you need to keep up with the news. www.nzdf.mil.nz/media-centre/news/twenty-two-light-armoured-vehicles-sold-to-chilean-navy/

12 should be retained (6 in each island), polished up and assigned purely to recruitment, doing the rounds to all schools and appropriate events, alongside the NH-90s if there’s space to land.
Glad we’ve got the bushmasters.

I think some may misunderstand, a Bushmaster cannot undertake the role of the NZLAV. The capabilities are complimentary but they are quite different. Similarly 12 LAV does not provide the government with an operational light armoured capability.

Oh that's great - 22 sold after 10 years of trying There was never any plan to sell 100+ NZLAVS. In 2012 20 units were determined to be surplus to requirements and offered for sale. This number was increased to 30 vehicles in 2019. As has previously been stated the Chileans have purchased 22 units which means 8 are still on the market. www.nzdf.mil.nz/media-centre/news/twenty-two-light-armoured-vehicles-sold-to-chilean-navy/

The Army loves to buy ugly trucks. Yep, they certainly do that included the new MAN trucks, but they are built for a role not looks, But the ADF use Auscam which breaks up the outline abit more than the Kiwi colours. Have always wondered why NZ does not use a disruptive colour scheme on its vehicles. The NZ Bushmasters are not replicas of the ADF Bushmasters. A different hull which has front crew doors and I believe they are slightly longer and higher more head room than the ADF version, no spare tyre either. higher axel loading more payload. I also understand that because of the steel used it offers a higher level of balistic protection than does the NZLAV which was a bonus when they tested it, it's why the nomenclature went from IMV (infantry mobility vehicle) to PMV (Protected Mobility Vehicle) Protection Ballistic exceeds STANAG 4569 level 1- standard up to STANAG 4569 level 3 - option FSP up to STANAG 4569 level 5 - option IED high level of protection from monocoque hull - standard Mine exceeds STANAG 4569 level 3 - standard Spaw liner option Wonder if NZG will get Hawkie in the PMV-L role

Only if you believe Wikipedia. You have also mixed up ASLAV and NZLAV. They are very different vehicles!
