I knocked up one of these in 1/72 as a Broplan vacform kit in between things Its a really tidy little kit with lots of injection molded parts (particularly cockpit/cabin detail) Have built it as ZK-NSN in the Air Nelson 'Link' scheme it wore (minus the Link titles) before being sold to Great Barrier 1I7A8717 by Harry Follas, on Flickr 1I7A8726 by Harry Follas, on Flickr 1I7A8714 (1) by Harry Follas, on Flickr 1I7A8735 by Harry Follas, on Flickr

LOve it. I flew in one once and to find a kit to build as the one I've flown would be great. Just one thing I would like to point out o your wonderful build. The engines look to be upside down to me The intakes look as if they should be higher up.

I am posting this on behalf of Kevin Smith, who sent it to me. He says: "Hi Dave A post in this thread was commenting on the position of the intakes on the PA31-310 Navajo. Here is a side on picture of the same model acft that shows the "harrysone Model" is essentially correct. Can't show any more later photos of this acft as it was lost at sea in Nov 1988 on a target towing exercise while not towing the target at the time. Rgds Kevin Smith"

Great work. The Eagle Airways Pipers and Bandeirantes used to fly over Cambridge all the time. And Mum was lifelong friends with Joan and Malcolm Campbell, who started and owned the airline originally.
Any idea what the font was called on the Eagle livery?

Very cool Dave, a friend started his aviation career with Eagle, although much later in the piece, in the late days of the Bandits early days of the 1900s. Hes now in the jet fleet after having progressed to ATR captain in the regional fleet...he reckoned the culture at Eagle in the late 90s and early 00's was still very cool, quite different to the rest of Air NZ Regional as a whole.
Not sure what the font is, was lucky to be able to have a couple of old brochures to scan and be able to re-create the font for decals : )

I remember when ZK-NSN was delivered to Motueka in 1985 by ferry pilot Doug Dallison. I have some photos somewhere….it was originally in a yellow beige colour, and remained so until painted in the maroon tailed Air Nelson livery (along with Chieftains NSO and NSP) NSN was an old aircraft even then (1970 vintage from memory) It was a real step up to fly after the Motueka Air Services Pa23-250 Aztec Es (ZK-ERM, PIX and DIO), and certainly much nicer in the cabin for the passengers.
