Lisbon Maritime Museum obviously has a large collection of maritime memorabilia along a small collection of water capable aeroplanes. The oldest restored aeroplane in Portugal, FBA Type B. British built flying surfaces with a French built hull. One of three Fairy IIIDs used to complete the first crossing of the southern Atlantic in March 1922. The first two were lost in accidents, this is the third machine that completed the final leg of the 8,400km journey from Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro. Finally the Portuguese Air Force operated a number of Grumman Widgeons. A short walk from the museum on the foreshore a very nice fully detailed full scale replica of the trans Atlantic Fairy biplane.
