Low-flying plane sparks incorrect crash fears near Mercer, emergency services stood down

A low-flying topdressing plane sparked incorrect fears of a crash and a full emergency services response in Mercer, Waikato, this morning.

Police and the Auckland Westpac Rescue Helicopter service responded to a report of a plane crash just before 8.30am.

However police later confirmed the report was incorrect. The aircraft was a low-flying topdressing plane and a witness had wrongly thought they had seen smoke coming from the aircraft.

Emergency services have been stood down.

I think I probably saw that same aeroplane when I was out in the Ardmore training area today, it's a relatively frequently used strip on the hill near the old Kelly Field.

Not soft at all. Everyone has their own interests and knowledge base. Unless you are someone who knows everything it's pointless moaning that they should have known. They do now, that's how you learn. Zac is quite correct.

It is a pity that we cannot often offer constructive criticism on items without the PC brigade going woke and pussy-footing on what kids or adults don't need to know. No wonder our education standards and core common knowledge are fast approaching third-world standards (if not already there).
