Does anyone here remember, have photos of or have footage of the record breaking bungy jump from Warbirds Over Wanaka 1992?
I witnessed it live, but now over 30 years later I cannot recall what sort of helicopter is was. Jet Ranger? Who was the pilot? Who was the jumper? Was the record based around the length of the bungy cord? I recall it was pretty long. The practice was banned not long after that.
I'd check my old VHS tape to see if it is included in the official video, but I no longer have a TV or VCR...

For some reason I think it may have been a Squirrel of The Helicopter Line.
I believe the Historical Aviation Film Unit holds the rights to the official and unofficial 1992 videos so it might be worth reaching out to them? Failing that it may be in Gerard Morris' book but 1) it doesn't immediately ring any bells and b) my copy's in the North Island...hopefully a helpful WONZer has their copy handy to check!

Nothing in Gerard Morris's book.
1 picture of a helicopter bungee jump in WoW '94 (pg.24). The caption says Mark Frood jumped from the Helicopter Line Squirrel on Easter Sunday. Flown by Dennis Egerton. Photo credit is to Bryan Morgan.
Doesn't mention if it's a record of any type.

Thanks Andrew. I was not at the 1994 show. So whatever the record was, it was at the 1992 show. Thinking about it, I think the 1992 jump was two people, on two cords? And that maybe what was banned as they seem to still do solo helo jumps. There is also footage here of an AJ Hackett Bungy company jump from a helicopter over a stadium. www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2089730734443653
