I visited the Trentham Military Camp library today and was surprised to find that they have a significant number of books from the former HQ NZDF Libary on display. These have been in storage since the earthquake that closed the former HQNZDF building and the defence library. The Librarian explained that eventually the whole collection will be available. They have some temporary staff unpacking all the boxes.
As well as published works covering all three services and related overseas military forces there are a significant number of one-off NZgovernment and service statements/reports/unpublised manuscripts in various forms of binding. For instance I found the three volumes of the NZ Public Works WW2 war history and a substantial early WW2 report on Pacific island aerdromes.
Sorry I forgot to ask if there is an online database of the collection. I drew out an amazing book of French colour photos from WW1 so when I take it back I will ask about the database.

I went back to Trentham library today to order a three volume set of books that the NZDF internal library online catalogue still states 'in basement defence house'. The librarian was unsure if they we're among the unpacked boxes as they were not on the shelf in the appropriate dewy location. Within two hours I received an email inviting me to uplift the books so it appears that even books previously held in the stack are now in the expanded Trentham camp library.
