NZ2429 beached in February 1953.
Note the size of the squadron markings, they seem to equate to the bars of the USAAF insignia as delivered.
But no.
To "throw a Spaniard in the works" so to speak, here is an earlier photo of 29 in a basic scheme:
One thing is certain is that the dimensions are NOT the same as the TAF checkerboard markings.

So for those of you who intend to build a model of '29 just be aware of the this size difference.
The Ventura decal sets (sorry Malcolm) and the Italeri 086 P-51 are incorrect.
So now you know.
