There is a company out of the uk, modelu, who does 3d prints of actual people in period costume for railway etc, who have begun to produce WW2 theme people. Just google Modelu. Check them out. Excellent detail & multiple scales. They even ask for subject ideas for future prints.

Yes, RNZAF aircrew members were equipped with the Mae West type life preservers both at home in NZ and in the Pacific campaign. These figures would definitely suit both regions.
