Air Chathams SAAB and Whakatane

Air Chathams have introduced the SAAB340 on scheduled flights between Whakatane and Auckland. The SAAB replaces the Fairchild Metroliner which has operated out of Whakatane since 2015. Test flights withe SAAB were completed in August, and the first day of the new service was Monday 21st November.

Further to my post, Air Chathams had used SAAB340 ZK-KRA on scheduled flights to/from Whakatane on 21 July 2018 and 29 November 2019. However, these were peak time replacements for the Metroliner, which continued in service until a fortnight ago.
